Finding the Perfect Adult Family Home: A Family’s Journey to Peace of Mind
I recently received a call from a gentleman searching for an Adult Family Home (AFH) for his 93-year-old mother. She had lived in an assisted living community for the past eight years, but over the past few months, she experienced a significant decline. She was no longer engaging with the community’s amenities, staying in her apartment all day, and relying on 24/7 private caregivers to assist with her daily needs.
With her care needs increasing and her activity decreasing, the family was spending over $15,000 a month between rent and full-time private care. They were now looking for a better solution—one that would still provide excellent care without the overwhelming costs.

I encouraged him to discuss the decision with his sister and, once they were ready, let me know so we could take the next steps.
The very next morning, I received an email confirming that they had made their decision—they were ready to move forward with the AFH that felt like the perfect fit.

Working with such a kind and caring family has been incredibly rewarding. The love this son had for his mom was evident in every conversation we shared, whether on the phone or over email. Despite his initial hesitation about moving his mother from her assisted living community, it became clear that this was the right decision—both emotionally and financially.
