By Lois Jasmer, Certified Senior Advisor at Concierge Care Advisors
I’m a Senior Living Expert
After nearly 20 years in the Senior Living industry, I came to a surprising realization: I’m an expert. When I think of professionals like doctors, lawyers, or real estate brokers, I recognize their expertise immediately. Yet, it took me this long to see myself the same way in senior living. I’ve been doing this work from the heart for so long that I never stopped to consider that this makes me a true professional expert.
At Concierge Care Advisors, all of us bring expertise in Senior Living, though we come from different backgrounds and experiences. Some of us worked as nurses, social workers, or rehabilitation specialists, while others, like me, have spent years managing senior living communities. Collectively, we know the good, the bad, and everything in between.
Two Decades of Senior Living Experience
I’ve spent nearly two-thirds of my career working directly at senior communities and one-third as an advisor. I’ve worked for some of Washington’s largest senior living providers and with smaller, privately owned communities—spanning both assisted living and memory care. My experience in these settings taught me what makes for a smooth transition and, more importantly, what pitfalls to avoid.
There are many factors families must consider when deciding on a move to senior living:
- When to move
- Which community or home will be the best fit
- Financial planning to avoid surprises
- Specific care needs, like Hoyer lifts or memory support
Do you know what a Hoyer lift is? If not, that’s where I come in. As an expert, I can determine whether you need a memory care community or an adult family home. I can guide you through the complexities of finding the right place and even help negotiate if you have a limited budget. You don’t need to tour communities that may not accept you in the long run—we’ll make sure you only consider the options that meet your needs and goals.
A Team of Experts, All Working for You
At Concierge Care Advisors, I work alongside a team of skilled professionals with experience in nursing, skilled nursing, social work, and rehabilitation. We also collaborate with social workers, case managers, and two doctors, ensuring that every recommendation aligns with your healthcare provider’s expectations.
This collective knowledge allows us to address any challenges that come our way—from complex health conditions to navigating financial constraints. We don’t just guide families; we walk with them. If I encounter a situation outside my expertise, I know exactly who to call to ensure you receive the best possible advice and care.
