SEATTLE, WA–(Marketwired – Apr 28, 2014) – Concierge Care, Inc., the Northwest’s premier Senior Care and Housing referral service, announces the “Concierge Care Samaritans” volunteer program. This program is the formalization of an ongoing effort that has been underway since 2010. The Concierge Care Advisors provide pro bono work for seniors and their families that represents more than 10% of their weekly efforts.
This service is reserved for seniors that lack financial resources and other assets that may prevent them from receiving the highest level of care and housing available. “Families are not equipped, and other resources typically will not provide guidance for families without compensation,” says Mary Cordova, EVP and co-founder of Concierge Care Advisors.
The Concierge Care Advisors are in the unique position of being aware of the best care and housing options in their area. As a result, they may be able to negotiate housing in prequalified communities where families have been told they do not qualify. “These situations do not always materialize, but you’d be surprised how often we are successful on behalf of those less fortunate. Being able to facilitate a solution that works for both parties is very rewarding,” says Terri Wilson, Director of Transitional Services for Concierge Care Advisors.
“The Concierge Care Advisors motto is ‘Safety and security for our seniors first’ and we never put a price tag on a senior,” says Claudine Wasserman, director of Family Services. “This is the Concierge Care Samaritans’ guide post in everything they do and one reason why, as a social worker, I joined Concierge Care Advisors.”
In 2011, the Concierge Care Samaritans helped Patricia Gawenka and her mother receive specialized care when other options seemed out of reach. Said Patricia: “My mother’s health was diminishing; she had difficulty walking; had an improperly designed wheelchair, and was just given 30-days’ notice to find a facility that could provide her with the care she required. Luckily for me, the Concierge Care Samaritans were up to the task. Their team provided numerous other living options for my mother. I was shocked because these were facilities we wouldn’t be able to afford had it not been for the Advisors’ longstanding relationships with them. We were in need, they answered the call.”
“Our Concierge Care Advisors have helped hundreds of seniors with limited resources since we opened for business in 2010,” says Kecia Lilly, SVP of Corporate development. “This program was started by our advisors as a result of the founders agreeing with them that we cannot turn families away. Now that we have formalized this program, we challenge every organization working with seniors to join us. This is the time in a senior’s life to Get it Right the First Time when selecting care and housing and we are proud to do our part.”
